In this episode of The Beacon Show, host Tamara Jackson sits down with Janie Oliver, CEO of Stewardship, to discuss how faith-driven financial stewardship can create real impact. Together, they explore how Christians can steward their resources beyond just tithing—leveraging investments, donations, and financial decisions to advance the Kingdom. If you’ve ever felt called to make a difference with your finances but weren’t sure where to start, this episode will inspire you to see money as a tool for transformation.

Are you making the most of the resources God has blessed you with?
When we think about Christian stewardship, we often focus on tithing and giving—but it’s important to understand that stewardship also goes far beyond finances. It includes how we invest in our time, career, relationships, and talents to advance God’s Kingdom.
In a recent episode of The Beacon Show, I sat down with Janie Oliver, CEO of Stewardship, and she broke down a tiered strategy for faith-based investing. But I wanted to explore how we could use this Bullseye investment system to decipher how we can steward our entire lives.
A Tiered Approach to Christian Stewardship
Janie Oliver presents a four-tier investment strategy that ensures our resources—both financial and non-financial—are used in ways that honor God. Here’s how we can apply this principle not only to our wealth but also to our daily lives, careers, and relationships.
Tier 1: Bullseye Investments – Direct Kingdom Impact
This is the core of biblical stewardship—supporting ministries, missionaries, and organizations that spread the Gospel and meet urgent needs. So, when we think monetarily, we want to invest in these organizations to better advance the kingdom. However, when we are applying this principle to our life, we want to think of this as spending additional time directly and consciously impacting God’s people. So, how can we do that?
- Volunteering at your church or a faith-based nonprofit
- Mentoring young believers or discipling new Christians
- Starting a business or initiative that explicitly furthers the Gospel
Tier 2: Values-Driven Investments – Faith in Action
These are investments that align with biblical principles, even if they don’t directly fund Christian causes. Beyond money, this tier applies to life choices that align with how to better show up as a Christian and how you use that authority and dominion to advance the Kingdom through your actions. This can present as:
- Choosing a career that reflects your faith and purpose rather than just financial gain
- Supporting ethical brands that prioritize fair wages, diversity and inclusions, and responsible business practices
- Using social media to spread positivity, encouragement, and biblical wisdom
How we choose to show up in life is a direct reflection of the God we serve. Spend a little bit more time glorifying him by showing up in the way in which he designed you!
Tier 3: Socially Responsible Engagement – Ethical Stewardship
So, now that we are investing time in supporting our church and the people of God and showing up as thoughtful Christians in everyday life, what’s next? We have a social responsibility to be more like Jesus through ethical principles. This tier ensures that your investments and decisions don’t harm society or the environment. Think about it; how can we thrive in daily life, showing up as Christians but not contribute to the advancement of society around us? That isn’t how it’s supposed to work, so instead we can:
- Advocate for social justice in a way that aligns with Christian principles
- Be responsible consumers—choosing brands that respect people and the planet
- Support companies that align with ethical and faith-based values
Tier 4: Neutral Investments – Everyday Stewardship
Not every decision has an obvious Kingdom impact, but every choice shapes us. Even in neutral areas, we can be intentional about how we:
- Manage our free time by consuming media that strengthens or weakens our faith.
- Build relationships by surrounding ourselves with people who help us grow in Christ.
- Plan for the future by making wise financial decisions that allow us to give more generously later.
So, what are your bullseye investments? The question isn’t just about how much we give—it’s about how intentionally we live. When we see Christian stewardship as more than just tithing, we can begin to unlock a new way of living—where every decision becomes an opportunity to honor God and advance His Kingdom.
